CLUB CLUBMARK RE-ACCREDITED

Well done to Billy, Alison, Mark, Gill, Martin and the team on the achievement of Abbots Langley being one of the first clubs in Hertfordshire  to gain Clubmark re -accreditation. Please see the below

I am  very pleased to advise that Abbots Langley achieved their Clubmark re-accreditation during this weekend, with evidence check last Thursday followed by site visit on Sunday 28th April

A superb effort by the whole team at Abbots,  well done. I think they maybe one of the first in the county to have reached re-accreditation.

We did discuss a number of issues not least the impact to the Junior sides in this region with an extended football programme eating into the HJL matches- we need to feedback into the HJL committee this and the need to review match schedules as many local clubs in this area have football matches clashing with cricket fixtures, where the same children are likely to be playing.

Clubmark continues to remain a priority within the club and provides a solid structure from which the junior management team operate, again I was really impressed with the coaching commitment and ratios, together with structured coaching plans and development. It was encouraging to see the newly refitted clubhouse packed on Sunday afternoon, despite the change to the training time due to football clashes.

Good luck for the season and well done team!

With Kind Regards

ARE THE PROUD SPONSORS OF
ABBOTS LANGLEY CRICKET CLUB

Abbots Langley Cricket Club is pleased to announce that with immediate effect Extra Cover Cricket is to be the main clubs sponsor. The announcement made at the clubs annual dinner & dance was made by Mark Agius our fundraising officer and Hon Secretary. In making the announcement, Mark stated that he was particularly pleased that the clubs sponsor was a local business, run by a club member and player, which made the sponsorship all the more valuable in that the club would be supported by a local business and vice versa. The clubs teams would now be wearing new shirts with the Extra Cover Cricket logo across the front of the shirt. The new shirt was presented by Andrew Woodard of Extra Cover Cricket to Lew Hodgins, Chairman of the club.

An incentive is being put into place to encourage club members to purchase new shirts. The shirts will be made available at an introductory offer until after the 2nd league game in May. The offer is that you give back to Extra Cover Cricket your old sponsored shirt and they will sell you a new shirt at the offer rate. To take up the offer, please contact Andy Woodard at andy@extracovercricket.co.uk .

Extra Cover cricket will be selling cricket equipment and club clothing at the club on a regular basis, at Sunday colts training sessions and indoor nets sessions. Please support our clubs sponsor."

Teas. Make sure you ask your wife, girlfriend, mum or Auntie

MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THIS POST

Yes it’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to the cricket season and lovely summer days , beautiful manicured outfields and perfect wickets (unless of course you played last year and it was snow wind, hailstones and soggy spongy wickets) and of course those wonderful teas supplied by the Abbots Langley Tea Ladies/Men.
For those who don’t know how it works it’s simple. The tea person gets paid £50 to provide a tea for both teams, umpires and scorers (usually between 22 –26 people). There is no set menu but tea usually consists of a mixture of sandwiches (or wraps), savoury nibbly bits such as cocktail sausages, samosas chicken legs, crisps, cakes, scones Tea/Coffee and occasionally if the tea person feels that a healthy element should be included, fruit (melon, bananas etc). Cakes can be shop brought or home made there is no set rules on this (although there is some fierce competition amongst some of the regulars when it comes to the home made cakes).
Without the tea ladies the cricket teas very often consist of shop brought pre packed sandwiches, and a packet of crisps – so it’s in your own best interest to cajole, bribe and encourage wives girlfriends partners, daughters etc if they would be willing to help out and lay on a tea for the lads. They only need to volunteer for 1 or possibly 2 dates so it’s not a weekly commitment. If anyone is unsure about what needs to be done or is a bit nervous about taking on the commitment they can always come and help out one of regulars and see what’s involved.
I have attached a copy of the fixture list for Saturdays and Sundays which shows all the games where teas are required and the location (Manor House ground (MH) or Bedmond (BE).
Please email me ring me on 01923 211394 / 0793 1379 128 to let me know what dates you are able to cover.
Many thanks in anticipation
Carol Bailey
