Club Update

05 Feb 2021

Dear All,

Despite the lockdown restrictions, the club is working very hard in the hope we can have a full season this  year. We managed to operate last year within reason, with two senior teams playing a half season in the time allowed. The juniors and ladies season was affected as such but we managed a couple of games for each team at best in challenging circumstances. I hope every one returns to the club this year - as I know many of you opted out last year  which I totally understand the reasons why- please keep in touch.

Another positive note was the success of the All Stars programme, from which we will be fielding a new boys team this year. Members of the committee have been working hard on some mini projects in the Winter- primarily the new club clothing which was put on hold last year and nets replacement.

The committee have delayed a decision re -holding an AGM over the past months  in the hope for some normality. After  thinking long and hard  re  the current situation, as a committee, it was agreed that a zoom AGM would not be practical & hope we will be able to resume with an AGM face to face at the end of 2021.  Although we could orchestrate a meeting viz a viz Handforth Parish Council and go world wide for the publicity.

As a subsequence, the cricket committee have appointed the team captains for 2021. If anyone wishes to step forward and assist the club in any role - be it on the committee or an unofficial role re support be it teas/scoring/umpiring/ taking attendance registers Sunday mornings/ handyman - the list is endless please contact me.  We are also looking for the older boys and girls(14-18) to assist under guidance for the Dynamos/All Stars programme we run. We will also give support to those children on their Duke of Edinburgh programme.

In the meantime stay safe and hope we can all meet up in due course.
